In the winter of 2007, under conditions of utmost secrecy, BBC managers created a now mothballed sister station for ‘Radio 4’.

Supposed to be a fresh start, a bolder, less middle-class approach to talk radio, it all went terribly wrong. Evan Davies lost a leg, Charlotte Green needed counseling and Marcus Brigstocke was never seen again. Now, in the basement passages of Broadcasting House stalks a lumpen, ghoulish, benighted creature, known as ‘Radio Fore’, the ill-shapen bastard offspring of its elder sibling, kept secret from the public. Until now…

Unusual Lives: Episode 1 – Brian Parker

Druid Membership CardBrian Parker is a Druid. He is 39 years old and lives in Tinsley. As well as fulfilling his duties as High Seer of the Light for the Tinsley Circle of Druids & Wood Dwellers, he also works at a local call centre, dealing with customer complaints for a well known ISP. We visited Brian last February as he went about his daily activities, both pagan & modern. As he made preparations for a trip he only describes as his ‘holiday’.

‘Archive on Fore’ examines the origins, impact and legacy of Komsomolkids, a forgotten classic of children’s television. Combining the endearing animation of other children’s programming of the period, with an unremitting Marxist-Leninist analysis of capitalist power structures, Komsomolkids became an instant classic, but one that is now largely omitted in reviews of the broadcasts of the period.
